Honored as Woman of the Year: A Recognition of Art’s Impact

This year, I had the immense honor of being recognized as the “Woman of the Year of the City of Pasadena” by State Congresswoman Judy Chu. This prestigious award not only celebrates my work as an artist but also signifies a tremendous effort by the US Representative to acknowledge and uplift the artist community.

For me, this recognition is not just a personal achievement but a validation of the profound impact art can have on society. It also highlights the fact that an artist can indeed run a thriving, successful business while simultaneously bringing about positive changes within the community. My journey in the art world has always been driven by a desire to inspire, connect, and make a difference. To be recognized for these efforts is both humbling and empowering.

In addition to having all my dearest friends and family present to witness this beautiful experience, what made it even more special was a realization made by Congresswoman Chu on the day of the event. She remembered that two years ago, she honored my husband, Joe Krikorian, with the “Businessman of the Year Award and my sister Peggy was recognized as Teacher of the Year seven years back! This coincidence added a beautiful layer to our family story, highlighting our shared commitment to excellence and community service in our respective fields.

Art has the ability to bring people together, bridge gaps, and inspire change. It is a conduit through which we can express our deepest thoughts and emotions, communicate ideas, and envision a better future. Looking ahead, I am more motivated than ever to continue my work, which in addition to my fine art and illustration work, includes an animated film as well as a publishing house that is already creating a paradigm shift in Western Armenian literature.  I am pushing the boundaries of what art and media can achieve and am deeply grateful to State Congresswoman Judy Chu for her recognition of it.

This award is not just for me but for every artist who strives to make a difference.
